Frew Publications has been the genuine, one and only publisher of the Phantom Comic and other Lee Falk creations in Australia since 1948. One of their artists who will be sketching will be Sydney based illustrator Jamie Johnson. From a young age, he has had a passion for comic art. He is a fan favourite cover artist on The Phantom, becoming known for his wraparound and connecting covers in recent years.
Giant Panda King is a boutique publishing company based in Sydney, Australia, established by the creators of Star Wars burlesque show ‘The Empire Strips Back’ and men’s parody magazine, Wookieerotica. Pat Grant lives in Wollongong. He is the author of “Blue” (Top Shelf) and the forthcoming graphic novel “The Grot” (Top Shelf). His comics and writings have compelled people to chew at their cuticles in discomfort, take long baleful sniffs of printed paper, and cry while trawling the internet.
Louie Joyce is an award-winning comics creator and illustrator based in Austinmer, NSW. His comics include Past the Last Mountain (Winner of a 2017 Silver Ledger Award), The Many Harold Holts of Space & Time, Astral and self published books MISHMASH & HODGEPODGE. His new book, The Adventures of Jack Scratch, is out now and will be available at Kino FCBD.
Daniel Picciotto is a creative mind with a strong passion for visual storytelling. With a body of work including storyboarding for commercials, and artwork for the award-winning TV show “Ready For This” on the ABC, Daniel’s favourite accomplishment has been seeing his comic work published in Comixtribes Scamthology. Look for his cover work on the upcoming Phantom TPB from Frew Publications.

MARJORIE LIU AT KINO FCBD // 5pm
Kinokuniya is thrilled to welcome New York Times bestselling and award-winning writer Marjorie Liu to Kino FCBD!
Ms. Liu is a highly celebrated comic book writer. Her extensive work with Marvel includes the bestselling Dark Wolverine series, NYX: No Way Home, X-23, and Black Widow: The Name of the Rose. Her newest work is MONSTRESS, an original, creator-owned comic book series with Japanese artist (and X-23 collaborator) Sana Takeda. Published by Image in Fall 2015, MONSTRESS is set in an alternate, matriarchal 1920’s Asia and follows a girl’s struggle to survive the trauma of war. With a cast of girls and monsters and set against a richly imagined aesthetic of art deco-inflected steam punk, MONSTRESS #1 debuted to critical praise.
